ANT WARS - Copyright 1993 - Jeff Freeman - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
The object of the game is to bring seeds to the Queen ant. The Queen
may then create more ants, to bring more seeds, to make more ants, etc.
There are several different types of Ants.
Ant Type Primary Purpose
-------- ---------------
ARMY kill other ants
WORKER dig tunnels
HARVESTER carry seeds
PLANTER turn seeds into plants
BUILDER create walls
BOMBER explodes
SCANNER scans a wide radius
COLLAPSER collapses tunnels and caverns
QUEEN makes more ants
The single most important ant is the Queen. If you lose the Queen ant,
you won't be able to make any more ants. Note that the Queen ant cannot
HATCH a new ant unless there is somewhere to put the new ant. New Ants
can be hatched on top of other ants, but not on top of 'dirt'.
If there are many seeds around the Queen, it may be better to make more
Harvester ants. If you have to dig a ways to get to some seeds, though,
better invest in some Workers.
As soon as possible, you'll want to establish a self-sufficient colony
so that you are not required to send out ants to look for seeds. Use
PLANTERs to turn some seeds near the Queen into PLANTS. Plants will
produce several seeds per day.
Remember to feed your ants. Every ant must eat a seed at least once
every five days.
Hatch a scanner as soon as possible and keep it near your Queen.
Scanner's will allow you to monitor the area around your Queen much more
effectively that ants on patrol.
When you spot a red, enemy ant, be aggressive - especially if you can
see the enemy Queen close to your Queen. With BOMBER and ARMY ants, an
assault on your colony could be devastating.
Note that the Queen can only move 5 squares per day - it is much wiser
to use your Workers and Harvesters to bring seeds to your Queen (and for
that matter, to the Planters).
Use Builders to protect your 'garden' as well as to mark the boundaries
of your colony. Many players will simply steer clear of your area if
they see that it is occupied (and developed). Careful not to 'seal up'
your Queen!
That's it, you're on your own. If all else fails, press a button. The
[Q] button quits from most everything and the [?] button will display
the current Ants options when moving.
If you get wiped out you'll have to wait three days to play - so don't
get wiped out.
